are provided as Distance Education, which will be accessible 24/7.
However, due to the fact that students and faculty members have gained experience in UZEM applications using the Learning Management System during and after the pandemic, our Distance Education System continues to be offered synchronously with the program courses in the Student Information System for all academic units in formal education in order to support face-to-face education. Live lesson activities are excluded in formal education courses.
Open source Moodle software is used as the Learning Management System in our Distance Education System. In this system, documents required for courses, educational videos and presentations that can be watched at any time, homework/exam module, interactive activities such as H5P are shared on the course pages. In addition to these activities, Live Lessons are processed according to the course hours in our distance education programs other than Formal Education, Common and Compulsory Courses. In Common and Compulsory Courses, Live Lessons are held on certain weeks with content sharing in each term. Open source BigBlueButton software is used as the live lesson application. The contents of all these Live Lessons are automatically recorded as videos in the system at the end of the course and can be watched later by the instructor and students of the course.
According to subparagraph (2) of paragraph (d) of the first paragraph of article 7 and article 14 of the Higher Education Law No. 2547, the duties of the Distance Education Application and Research Center are as follows.
